Jami Lynn's "Random impulse Feb 24th" (Classmate Response)

http://jaik5245.blogspot.com/2011/02/random-impulse-feb-24th.html

This poem seems so serious to me at first, but the ending makes me laugh.  The rapist being Freddy Krueger totally surprised me.  I had completely forgotten about those rapist poems we had to do in class and did not think that this was one of those poems at first.  Anyways, I think that the description of the rapist is very unique, since body parts like hair and arms are not usually described as "burnt pieces of wicker" or "angel haired spaghetti."  Although unique, I can't really picture those body parts being synonymous with the objects they are connect to.  I like the Freddy Krueger hints that are given before introducing him by name, like "he walks only at bedtime" and "his scissor like hands."  When I read the poem the first time through, these hints didn't make me think Freddy Krueger.  I didn't know the rapist was supposed to be him until I saw his name, although this might be because I barely remember Nightmare on Elm Street.  But if the poem would have said something about dreams, my mind may have thought of Freddy, because I think he's best known for killing people through their dreams, right?  Also, turning a character who is far from a gangster from the hood into exactly that is what gives this poem hilarity.  I think this is a good job.
