Chapters 3 and 4 of Steering the Craft (Reading Response)

Chapter three was interesting because sometimes I get a voice in the back of my head (this voice was created from teacher critiques) that tells me that this sentence is too long, or that sentence doesn't have enough details and needs to be shorter.  I agree with the author of Steering the Craft when she states that a story should be a mixture of both, but sentence length is just not something I want to be stressed over when writing a story.  I think if I'm "in the zone" when writing, the stories I write will naturally end up containing an equal amount of long and short sentences anyway.  The subject of repetition in chapter four is important because generally when I read other people's stuff, they will have the same words like three or four times in one sentence, and it's kind of annoying to read.  I won't say that i'm not ever repetitious in my writing, but it is a lot easier to see flaws in someone else's work than your own sometimes.  With that being said, this chapter will definitely make me more conscious of whether i'm being repetitious or not when i'm writing.
