"Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past could have been any different."
-guest on the Oprah show
During an episode about molestation, Oprah recalls a man giving her this definition on a previous show. 200 men were in Oprah's audience holding up pictures of them when they were little boys, when they were around the age that they were being molested. Forgiveness is a big part of life, because people will cause pain to others, but we as people must move forward and not let a grudge or resentment keep us in the past. This quote reminds me that accepting the past for what it is serves an important purpose in moving on.
