I hope this isn't diary-ish, but this is what has been on my mind lately. Do you all get tired of everything being the same? If I turn on the radio, singers and rappers talk about the same things they did ten years ago (clubbin', sex, and money, boyfriend/girlfriend stuff). When I go out in pubic, people always say "hi, how are you?" and you're expected to say, "fine, how are you?" You're not supposed to say "i'm doing horrible, life sucks" or anything like that because nobody really cares how you are, it's just something you say. And then if you're leaving a grocery store or another place of business, a worker will say "have a nice day," and I suppose the polite thing for me to say would be "you, too." I'm pretty sure the only reason workers say this is because their bosses force them to. I do care about whether folks have a good day or not, but it just gets old reciting the same boring dialogue. Then, if you're in an elevator with someone, or just stuck somewhere with a stranger, they either want to talk to you about the weather or complain about how slow the service is or something. I just want to say "you are boring me; I don't want to talk about the weather, the weather is always the same, it rains sometimes, it's hot, it's cold some days, whatever. Nothing new. And go complain to someone else because I was having a good day until you ruined it with your whining." But no, i'm expected to nod and keep the uninteresting small talk going until I no longer have to be stuck with the person. Last week, I went on a road trip from Georgia to Philadelphia. Why does every town look the exact same? There's a Walmart, a Lowes, an Anna'a Linens, a 99cents store, and some hotels. Down the street, there's a Target, a Ross, a Michaels, or some other arts and crafts store. There's probably another cheap clothing store around there too, besides the Ross. And of course, there are a few gas stations spread out between the Walmart and Target areas. Aside from the signs, all the buildings are generally some beige color. Why can't some of the buildings be lime green or something? I'm just looking for something different and exciting. Even the comedy in all the movies and television shows generally center around sexual humor and people saying "that just happened." Am I the only one who's bored with this? Everyday a new iphone or ipad or whatever new gadget comes out, and I don't want any of it; it's all the same boring crap. I want stuff that's tangible, not for my whole life to be accessible via a robot. So tired of hearing about Linsay Lohan or Charlie Sheen being in rehab. Why should I be concerned with celebrities' personal lives? I have enough drama in my own life to worry about; I don't want to have to be sad for rich people whom I've never even met. I can take a walk outside and get a little clarity, but looking at the daily schedule of life, i'm really over it. If this was diary-esque, sorry.
